Wine Society Shipment Tasting Notes

Fall 2013 Shipment

2010 ISOSCELES

2010 ISOSCELES

Our 2010 ISOSCELES is classically styled, with rich blackcurrant expression, spice and defined structural elements. It has the full palate we love in ISOSCELES, but with the elegant varietal expression you would only expect from a classic Bordeaux-styled blend that hints at putting a few bottles away for a special occasion in the future.

2011 Cabernet Sauvignon

2011 Cabernet Sauvignon

Our 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect go-to wine whenever you have red on your mind. Crafted with carefully sorted fruit, small batch fermentation and sixteen months in barrel, it’s complex with rich varietal fruit expression, intriguing spice elements and soft tannins. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is a great wine to pair with a wide variety of dishes or tastes.

2011 JUSTIFICATION

2011 JUSTIFICATION

Our 2011 JUSTIFICATION has an elegance that allows it to get its point across without having to raise its voice. Built around some very special lots of cabernet franc, this wine has a subtle spice and herb quality. Combine it with merlot, which adds a rich rounded fruit profile, and you have a balanced and graceful, Wine Society member favorite. JUSTIFICATION pairs well with rich but understated foods like duck or veal.

2011 Petit Verdot

2011 Petit Verdot

Long a “secret weapon” in ISOSCELES Reserve and other high quality red blends made in the Bordeaux style, this grape variety is seldom seen on its own. With this limited bottling of our 2011 Petit Verdot, we give our JUSTIN Wine Society members the opportunity to experience black fruit, exotic spice, subtle floral character and pronounced, chewy tannins; all qualities that add interest to the most famous Bordeaux-styled blends. It’s great with burgers or a big steak right off the grill.

2011 RIGHT ANGLE

2011 RIGHT ANGLE

The 2011 RIGHT ANGLE is a hearty mix of black fruit, spice and savory notes beautifully framed by its structural elements to provide a balanced, expressive wine that is sure to please red wine drinkers on the prowl for something uniquely different. With cabernet sauvignon forming its foundation, we added equal amounts of petit verdot and petite sirah with a touch of malbec to show a full textural expression in a limited second edition of this Wine Society offering.

2011 Reserve Malbec

2011 Reserve Malbec

For many years we have made a small amount of malbec to blend into our ISOSCELES Reserve, but beginning in 2010, we specifically set aside some very special fruit from this variety to make JUSTIN Reserve Malbec for our Wine Society members. With rich, ripe fruit on the entry, a savory mid-palate and a long fruit and spice laden finish, the 2011 Reserve Malbec is in the company of the best you can find and one of our most popular wines…while it lasts.

2011 SAVANT

2011 SAVANT

The 2011 SAVANT is a combination of syrah and cabernet, two of the most suited grape varieties that are grown here in Paso. Big, bold and beautifully balanced, SAVANT shows rich, mouth-filling black fruit and layers of smoky, sweet and savory spice. For a big wine, it has great table manners and is perfectly at home with more flavorful meats like lamb but also pairs well with grilled veggies or game fowl.

2012 Chardonnay

2012 Chardonnay

Somewhere between big and buttery, and knife edge crispness lies a style where the chardonnay grape really shows its best qualities; rich stone fruit and crisp citrus softened with a little butterscotch richness and a complex mouth-filling finish, which is great with a wide range of foods or on its own. This perfectly describes our 2012 JUSTIN Chardonnay and points out why this wine is popular year-round as a perfect food pairing wine.

2012 Viognier

2012 Viognier

Dry, full-bodied and textured, our Viognier is a versatile white wine for the holidays and a favorite among those who are normally only interested in red wines. With rich, ripe citrus, apricot, yellow apple fruit, spice and a subtle floral character, the 2012 JUSTIN Viognier is a great alternative to the same old white wine choices. Served slightly chilled, it’s delicious with everything you’ll find on the table at Thanksgiving or throughout the holiday season.
