Appearance: Bright with a dark purple core showing black secondary color, lightening to a medium purple ruby toward the rim with moderate staining on the glass.
Aroma: Aromatic with black fruit of cherry and berry with red berry accents, barrel spice of vanilla, licorice and cinnamon with subtle camphor, cracked black pepper, dried herbs and smoked cured meat.
Palate: Full bodied with black cherry, blackberry jam and raspberry fruit mixed with attractive barrel spice notes on entry. The mid palate features sustained fruit mixed with savory pepper, dried herbs with anise and hints of salumi. The finish is fresh and long, continually evolving as the wine’s flavor components mix, all wrapped in firm, fine tannins.
Nicely balanced, textured and complex, the 2017 JUSTIN Syrah’s fruit along with its smoky, savory elements make it a bold pairing partner for grilled Italian styled sausages, or with an artisanal charcuterie and cheese platter featuring moderately aged sheeps’ milk cheeses like Manchego, Abbaye de Belloc, or Kasseri.
