This three-year vertical of PLATINUM Reserve is the purest expression of Cabernet Sauvignon achieved from these vintages. Each bottle is decorated in platinum, a prized precious metal which suitably illustrates the scarcity of this limited production. Only the Cabernet Sauvignon with the darkest fruit character and ample tannin structure was shortlisted for consideration in the blend.

Twenty-four months of bottle aging prior to release helps ensure that all components have had ample time to marry and integrate, but additional time in the bottle will surely be rewarded.

2016 PLATINUM Reserve

Appearance

Bright, with a dense ruby/purple core showing black secondary hue, becoming lighter toward the rim with slow-forming deeply stained tears on the glass.

Aroma

Very aromatic with rich, ripe black fruit of cherry and blackcurrant jam with vanilla, toasted oak, red and black licorice, sweet tobacco, leather, cedar and camphor.

Palate

Full-bodied and mouth-filling with ripe black fruit, oak and barrel spice on entry and a mid-palate showing sustained ripe fruit matched with savory dried autumn leaf elements. Mouthfilling, chewy tannins build through a very long, balanced and fresh finish layered with lingering fruit, licorice, cedar, camphor and oak notes.

2017 PLATINUM Reserve

Appearance

Clear and bright, with a deep ruby/purple core with a black hue, lighter toward the rim with thick, moderately stained tears on the glass.

Aroma

Very aromatic, with ripe black fruit of black cherry jam, black currant, and boysenberry with complex spice of vanilla, cinnamon, licorice, and camphor with sweet tobacco and dusty leather notes.

Palate

Full-bodied with rich, ripe black cherry, berry, and currant fruit with refreshing red fruit accents on entry. Complex barrel spice and oak lead into the midpalate with continued rich fruit and spice matched with sweet tobacco, cedar, and firm, ripe, mouth-filling tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is long with sustained fruit, rich spice, and oak elements that mingle and interact with each other for a very long time.

2018 PLATINUM Reserve

Appearance

Bright with deep ruby purple core with black tones and thick moderately stained tears on the glass.

Aroma

Highly aromatic and complex with a rich mix of black fruit of cherry, black currant and boysenberry, oak with pronounced baking spice, sweet tobacco, black olive, and camphor notes.

Palate

Full-bodied with ripe black cherry, mixed black berries with black currant fruit mixed with rich spice of vanilla and cinnamon on entry, with oak as the wine opens into the midpalate with firm, chewy tannins and lingering spice. The finish is very long with ripe fruit, lots of sweet spice, and sustained tannins that provide structure and contain the lingering ripe dark fruit and sweet spice notes framed with oak.
