Tasting Notes
Body
Appearance
Opaque ruby core in color with purple tones, moderate tears, and subtle staining on the glass.
Aroma
Moderately intense aromas of ripe blueberry, blackberry jam, and rhubarb evolve into more savory notes of candied bacon and plum sauce, accented with black pepper, olive brine, fennel seed, violet, and espresso.
Palate
Bold, dry, and full-bodied on entry, opening with lush black raspberry and black cherry fruit followed by earthy peppercorn, cured meats, dried sage, vanilla, and toasted barrel spice on the midpalate. The firm, well-integrated tannins balance the juicy fruit profile, and persistent acidity sustains the wine to a long, balanced finish of raspberry liqueur, tobacco, dark chocolate, and star anise.
