About the Wine
The 2018 vintage is the third release of PLATINUM Reserve. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and consists of our winemaker, Scott Shirley's, favorite barrels from the best barrel lots. This beautiful wine is the purest expression of Cabernet Sauvignon achieved from this vintage.
Each bottle is decorated in platinum, a prized precious metal which suitably illustrates the scarcity of this limited production. Only the Cabernet Sauvignon with the darkest fruit character and ample tannin structure was shortlisted for consideration in the blend.
Twenty-four months of bottle aging prior to release helps ensure that all components have had ample time to marry and integrate, but additional time in the bottle will surely be rewarded.

Clear and bright, with a deep ruby/purple core with a black hue, lighter toward the rim with thick, moderately stained tears on the glass.
Very aromatic, with ripe black fruit of black cherry jam, black currant, and boysenberry with complex spice of vanilla, cinnamon, licorice, and camphor with sweet tobacco and dusty leather notes.
Full-bodied with rich, ripe black cherry, berry, and currant fruit with refreshing red fruit accents on entry. Complex barrel spice and oak lead into the midpalate with continued rich fruit and spice matched with sweet tobacco, cedar, and firm, ripe, mouth-filling tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is long with sustained fruit, rich spice, and oak elements that mingle and interact with each other for a very long time.
Stainless steel open & closed top tanks with UV43 yeast, twice daily pump overs
Aged 24 months in 100% new French oak barrels and an additional 24 months in bottle
SUGGESTED FOOD PAIRINGS
The 2018 PLATINUM Reserve is full-bodied and balanced from entry to finish. This wine will pair beautifully with dishes like beef wellington, or a filet mignon served with potatoes au gratin.
