About the Wine
The historic Spanish variety Tempranillo has found a successful home in the vineyards of Paso Robles. Like its birthplace in the Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions of Spain, Paso Robles offers hot summer days, cool nights, and little rainfall. Our 2023 Reserve Tempranillo tempts you with beautifully layered notes of spicy fruit and toasted oak, along with deep flavors of ripe cherry and black currant. This wine will definitely gain further complexity and balance with a few years in the cellar. It never fails to amaze with its affinity toward a wide variety of foods. ¡Que aproveche!
Tasting Notes
Body
Appearance
Clear, with a deep ruby-purple core that lightens toward the rim. Moderately heavy, slow-forming tears appear on the glass, with moderate staining.
Aroma
Complex, with ripe Mission fig, Medjool date, and raspberry fruit leather, leading to subtle notes of cedar cigar box, vanilla, and violet.
Palate
Dry and moderately full-bodied, with bright notes of Morello cherry, plum, and boysenberry on entry. The midpalate reveals layers of black tea, sweet tobacco, and fresh flowers, supported by well-integrated tannins that lend a subtle, balancing grit. A palate-cleansing acidity carries the finish, which lingers with persistent red and black fruit tones, complemented by hints of vanilla and toast.
SUGGESTED FOOD PAIRINGS
Sopressini Pasta
A very food-friendly wine, try our 2023 Reserve Tempranillo with a beef stew or lamb tagine, or, after laying it down for a few years in the cellar, pair it with grilled meats, a vegetable lasagna, ratatouille, or sopressini pasta.
